Shakira is going to sing in Bollywood movie

After Mexican actress, Barbara Mori, Shakira is going to work in a Bollywood movie.

The 33 year old Columbian singing sensation is going to do a cabaret song in an upcoming Bollywood movie. The song will have Latin influence.

The movie has not been titled. It will be directed by Prakash Chadha who directed Himesh Reshammiya in Aap Ka Suroor. It will also be the first movie of Sachin Joshi as a producer. Sachin Joshi is also the sponsor of the Kolkata IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders.

Famous composer duo, Salim-Sulaiman, is going to compose music for the song. Already, the duo worked with Shakira in her Fifa World Cup 2010 song ‘Waka Waka.’

Salim Merchant said, "We are in talks with her management. She seems to be really willing to collaborate and we are hoping a positive response in 5-6 days,"

If everything goes according to plan, then Shakira will be a recording the song within a month.

In 2009, popular Australian pop singer, Kylie Minogue, did an item number in Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, and Lara Dutta starrer, Blue Hindi movie. The item number became immensely popular among people.

Most probably, Shakira would also do an item number. There is no doubt that with her beautiful voice and unique belly dance Shakira would definitely set the screen on fire.

Rumors have in the media that director Anurag Basu wants to sign Shahrukh Khan for one of his next two projects. He has recently talked to Shahrukh about the movie and the actor has agreed to be part of it. However, nothing has been finalized yet as both Anurag Basu and Shahrukh Khan are busy with their upcoming projects.

Though his recent flick Kites failed in the box office, Anurag Basu is confident enough to go for a high profile project with Shahrukh Khan. His immediate next movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.

No Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om 2!

Rumors have it in the media that Shah Rukh Khan may not appear in the sequel of 2007 hit Om Shanti Om. There are speculations suggesting that director Farah Khan could rope in Salman Khan for the male lead role in Om Shanti Om 2.

Shah Rukh’s strained relationship with Salman Khan is not a secret anymore and everybody knows the two stars always avoid each other since their high-profile bust up at the birthday party of Katrina Kaif.

Farah Khan, the director of Om Shanti Om, has recently stepped up to bridge up the gap between Shah Rukh and Salman. However, it may not be that easy for Farah as the two actors still have hatred for each other.

Recently, Salman Khan said to the media, “What Shahrukh does or says is not of the least interest to me but he is one of the most insecure actors. If he could get rid of that he would actually be a nice fellow.”

Indian daily, Hindustan Times, recently reported that Salman and Farah Khan met in a television show recently. During their discussions about various things, it was revealed that Salman Khan was initially offered the lead roles of Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, but Shah Rukh later bagged both the movies.

Both the movies worked very well in the box office and Shah Rukh was nominated for Flimfare Best Actor award for his performance in both the movies.

It was also revealed in the same TV show that Salman Khan could be Shah Rukh’s replacement in the sequels of both the movies. Though Farah and Salman were not in serious mode at that time and it could be nothing but a joke, there are reasons Farah Khan could opt for Salman for the sequels of the two movies.

The friendship of Farah and Shah Rukh is well-known in the industry, but reports in the media suggest that their friendship is not as sweet as it was once. So, Farah may have already started to think about life without Shah Rukh Khan.

However, it is still a rumor that Salman Khan would play the male lead roles in Main Hoon Na 2 and Om Shanti Om 2 as nothing has been confirmed yet.

Raavan World Premiere to be Held on 16 June in London

Abhishek Bachchan has recently revealed in a Twitter post that his upcoming Bollywood flick Raavan will be premiered on 16 June in London. The movie featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Tamil movie star Vikram Kennedy in the lead roles is slated for release on 18 June 2010.

Directed and produced by Mani Ratnam, who earlier directed Abhishek and Aishwarya in the 2007 hit Guru, the movie is loosely based on the epic Ramayana. Govinda, Ravi Kishan and Priyamani will be seen in other important roles in the movie.

Abhishek plays the role of Beera who can be compared with Ramayana’s demon character Raavan, while Aishwarya plays Ragini, a character similar to Seeta of Ramayana. Vikram will be seen in the role of a police officer Dev who can be compared with Shree Ram of Ramayana.

The Tamil version of the movie is titled Raavanan which has also been shot simultaneously and is going to hit the screen on 18 June too. The Tamil version is also directed and produced by Mani Ratnam. However, the cast is slightly different from the Bollywood version.

In Raavanan, Vikram plays the role of Veeraiya (Raavanan), while Aishwarya will be seen playing the same character as she does in the Bollywood version. Prithviraj will be seen in the role of the police officer Dev (Sree Rama).

Music of both the movies was done by Academy Award winning composer A.R. Rahman.

After the success of 2007 hit Guru, Bollywood fans are expecting another hit from the Abhishek-Aishwarya pair. So, Raavan has lots of expectations to meet and it would be interesting to see if Abhishek and Aishwarya can emulate Guru’s success with Raavan.

Salman Khan Refused to Patch up with Vivek Oberoi at IIFA Awards 2010

Salman Khan has once again refused to bride up the gap with fellow actor Vivek Oberoi during the IIFA Awards 2010 which recently took place in Sri Lanka. Vivek was the host of the fashion event and was due to introduce Salman Khan on the stage. He even included the phrases like "rockstar of Bollywood" and "man with a golden heart" while introducing Salman.

However, Salman Khan strongly refused the idea of being introduced by his long-time foe. Later, Anil Kapoor took up the microphone to introduce Salman Khan.

It was not the first time Vivek tried to close the difference with Salman Khan whom he once publicly criticized in a press conference. The origin of their bitter relation is Aishwarya Rai who was at some point in the past romantically involved with both the actors.

It has been a long time Aishwarya Rai parted her relationship with both of them and is now the wife of actor Abhishek Bachchan. However, Salman and Vivek could not yet sort out the problems.

The bitterness of their relationship has been so intense that many believe Salman has influenced many directors and producers not to rope in Vivek in their movies.

After a promising performance in his Bollywood debut Company in 2002, Vivek Oberoi is yet to set himself as a leading actor in the industry.

Aamir Khan Likely to Host Kaun Banega Crorepati 4

Popular reality TV show, Kaun Banega Crorepati 4, could rope in Aamir Khan as host. The show was earlier hosted by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. So, it seems to be a challenge for Aamir Khan who has no previous experience of hosting any reality show.

In terms of popularity in Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are the competitors of Aamir Khan. So, it would be interesting to see if the actor-turned director takes up the challenge of hosting a show like KBC which was earlier popularized by two of his fierce competitors.

A source close to Aamir Khan has revealed that the 45-year-old would only host the show if there is any social cause. In fact, he has two reality shows on offer at the moment and would go for the one where he would find social cause.

Well-known for his social awareness, Aamir Khan does not fear about the comparisons with his predecessors. Rather the Lagaan-fame actor would consider it on social ground.

Reports in the media also suggest that there would be a change in the format of the Kaun Banega Crorepati 4, though it has not been decided yet.

Kaun Banega Crorepati is a reality TV show which is the Indian version of UK’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Amitabh Bachchan took up the hosting job of KBC in 2000 and popularized the show in Indian households. After he fell ill during the second season of the show, Shah Rukh Khan appeared as the host and continued the job till the KBC 3.

Now, it is time for KBC 4 and people are eagerly waiting to know who is going to host the show this time. Aamir Khan is definitely a candidate who has a brand value in India, but people would have to wait for a little more to know if the actor really takes up the job.

Bollywood actress, Deepika Padukone, would be seen in a new look in Ashutosh Gowariker’s next film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey. The actress plays the role of Kalpana Datta, a Bengali freedom fighter, who fights against the British for the independence of India.

Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is based on a book titled ‘Do and Die: The Chittagong Uprising 1930- 34’ by Manini Chatterjee. Set in Chittagong, a port city of the current-day Bangladesh, the movie also stars Abhishek Bachchan opposite Deepika Padukone. Abhishek Bachchan will play the role of Surya Sen.

Surya Sen is one of the most prominent figures in the history of anti-British movement in India. Kalpana Dutta was one of the assistants of Surya Sen in the armed resistance. She took part in the famous “Chittagong Armory Raid” on April 18, 1930.

To portray the role of a Bengali woman, Deepika Padukone had to wear traditional sari. Initially, the actress faced problems doing her action sequences wearing saris. Noted designer, Neeta Lulla, designed the dress to give Deepika a Bengali look.

Deepika Padukone, who shot to fame with her debut movie, Om Shanti Om, opposite Shah Rukh Khan, has appeared in many glamorous roles so far, but this time the 24-year-old is going to play a non-glamorous role in the movie.

Director, Ashutosh Gowariker, is well-known for his periodical films. He directed hit periodical movies like Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India and Jodhaa Akbar. Sonam Kapoor Starrer Aisha Could be Screened at IIFA in Sri Lanka

Anil Kapoor’s home production ‘Aisha’ could be premiered at the upcoming IIFA Award ceremony in Sri Lanka. An adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Emma, the movie deals with class division and features Sonam Kapoor as Aisha and Abhay Deol as Arjun.

Producer Anil Kapoor said that he was planning to premiere the movie at this year’s IIFA award next month. However, the veteran actor-turned-producer admitted they are running against time.

Set in Delhi, the story revolves around a young girl named Aisha. The movie casts satire on the society where marriage is seen as a means of uplifting one’s social status.

The character Aisha is very strong which director Rajshree Ojha believes Sonam Kapoor has successfully portrayed. Abhay Deol in the role of Arjun depicts a character like Emma’s Mr. Knightley. Ojha is happy with the performance of the lead actors in the movie.

For Sonam Kapoor, ‘Aisha’ could be a big breakthrough considering that the role she plays in the movie is a very strong one where she has every opportunity to show her acting talent.

Before ‘Aisha’, Sonam Kapoor’s another movie ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ opposite Imran Khan will hit the screen. So far, she has acted in two Bollywood movies: Saawariya and Delhi-6. ‘Aisha’ is slated for release on 6 August 2010.

Aamir Khan: Teaching Jobs Should be Highest Paying

Popular Bollywood actor Aamir Khan said that education is the only way to change the world, but for that, teachers should have better pay scale. Recently, he revealed his views regarding education system at the first anniversary of Forbes India.

Aamir Khan, whose recent movies 'Taare Zameen Par' and '3 Idiots' deal with the current education system of India, believes that most of the people take up teaching as their profession only when they do not get any other suitable job somewhere else. This way, he thinks, the quality of education system deteriorates.

To Aamir, the only reason behind people’s reluctance to join teaching profession is its low pay scale. So, he suggested that teaching jobs should be highest paying so that students after completion of their studies get the motivation to get into teaching.

Aamir Khan, who is seen as a responsible teacher in 'Taare Zameen Par', says that students should be motivated to acquire knowledge, instead of creating pressure on them.

Shahrukh Khan’s one phone call saved a marriage

Even a phone call can save a marriage especially, if the caller is some one like Shahrukh Khan. The Bollywood Badshah is very busy clearing up his IPL mess and his upcoming project, Ra. 1. In the middle of all this, he received a very emotional letter from a man named, Kandula Subramaniam, who lives in Gurgaon. He and his wife, Krishnakoli Dutta, have been living separately.

Their relationship turned sour and Subramaniam tried every thing to win her back but nothing worked. Then it came to Subramaniam that Krishnakoli is a big fan of Shahrukh Khan. Subramaniam, in desperation, tried to contact Shahrukh Khan.

He found Shahrukh Khan’s email address and wrote a heartwrenching mail describing his marriage and his relationship with his wife. He requested the Bollywood superstar to help him to bring back Krishnakoli.

Though a super busy man, Shahrukh Khan took out time to help Subramaniam. On May 18, 2010, on her birthday, Krishnakoli received a phone call which came from none other than her favorite Bollywood hero, Shahrukh Khan.

Shahrukh Khan wished Krishnakoli Happy Birthday! and then earnestly requested her to give another shot to her estranged relationship with Subramaniam. The actor was very cautious as he did not try to invade her privacy or make her angry.

After hearing about her relationship with her husband from Shahrukh Khan, Krishnakoli was very much surprised. She at first thought some one is playing jokes on her but then she understood that it was Shahrukh Khan for real.

Krishnakoli promised Shahrukh Khan that she would try and make things work with Kandula.

Sounds very FILMY but it is a true story and Shahrukh Khan did not disclose the story. Times of India reported it because Kandula Subramaniam used to work for the newspaper once.

First look of Raavanan Tamil movie unveiled

The first look ceremony of Raavanan Tamil movie took place at the Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Hall at Lady Andaal School on May 14, 2010. All the cast and crew of Raavanan Tamil movie excluding Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were present in the ceremony.

The actors and the director talked about the movie and about their experiences to the audience. The actors talked about their characters and the movie but they were very careful not to disclose too much information about the movie.

The stage was set to resemble the dense forest as shown in the backdrop of the movie. Everything was done to create the similar environment the audience have seen in the trailers of Raavanan Tamil movie.

Raavanan is the name of the Tamil version of the movie. In this version, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram and Prithviraj Sukumaran played the lead roles. In the Hindi version, Abhishek Bachchan plays the male lead.

Actor Karthik and Priyamani gave a warm welcome to the audience and set the mood of the show. Then the audience was shown trailers of the movie. The cinematography, the location and the landscapes were very much liked by the audience. It is quite obvious because when there is a director Mani Ratnam, nothing could go wrong.

The singers and actors also performed in the show. Singer Karthik first sang 'Usirey Poguthey.' The music of Raavanan has been composed by A R Rahman. This was followed by Vikram’s dance performance to the song ‘Kodu Potta.’ Vikram plays the anti-hero in the movie.

The center of the show was the soulful performance of A. R. Rahman along with famous lyricist, Vairamuthu.

Raavanan is going to release in theatres on June 18, 2010. A Telugu version named Villain will also be released in theatres.

Akshay Kumar has no problem doing more than one film a year

Akshay Kumar is one of the top actors in Bollywood but unlike other top actors in Bollywood who does only one movie a year, Akshay Kumar has no problem churning out three, four, five movies a year.

Akshay Kumar is not choosy about his roles. He said, "I just want to make most of my time... I'll do as many films as I can. Movie making is exhilerating,"

Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan release only one movie a year. These actors focus very much on quality and they are all very successful. For example, in 2009, Aamir Khan did only one movie, 3 Idiots. Not only the received critical appraisal. It went to become the top grossing movie of the year. The same thing happened with Ghajini in 2008.

However, Akshay Kumar has no qualms about his style. Regarding Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, he said, “ It's to each his own, really! They have their way or working, I have mine. What works for me may not work for them, what works for them may not work for me. But the best part of it all is that whatever 'strategy' chosen - if 'strategy' is the word you insist to use - is working for each one of us."

Bihar Munsif court lifts release stay order on Kites Hindi movie

Hirithik Roshan’s Kites will have no other major hiccup as a Bihar Munsif court lifted the stay on the release of the movie.

Few days ago, the Bihar Civil Court at Sitamarhi District ordered a stay on the release of the movie till May 24, 2010, on the ground of copyright infringement. A man named Laxmi Prasad of Sunbeam Holding said that Rakesh Roshan, producer of the movie, was supposed to pay him Rs50 million for the copyright of the action sequences.

However, FilmKraft and Adlabs challenged the release stay order passed by a Bihar Munsif Court. The court will hear the suit on May 24, 2010.

Regarding the matter, Rakesh Roshan told reporters that he never heard of this person before. He said, “I have no idea who this guy is. He lives in some village in Bihar and claims that he has the copyright for the action of my film. How is it even possible? The action director of our film is Hollywood-based Spiro Razatos. There is absolutely no truth in this. My legal advisors are looking into the matter and the team is flying to Bihar today (Tuesday) and I hope the matter is resolved soon.”

Kites is romantic movie which stars, Rakesh Roshan’s son, Hrithik Roshan and Mexican model turned actress, Barbara Mori.

Hrithik Roshan starrer Kites gets into Copyright Infringement Trouble

Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming movie, Kites, is scheduled to release in theatres on May 21, 2010 but the release might be postponed as Bihar Civil court ordered a stay on the release of the movie till May 24, 2010.

Laxmi Prasad of Sunbeam Holding filed a complaint against Rakesh Roshan in the court. The complaint says that Rakesh Roshan did not pay him Rs. 50 million for the copyright of the action sequences.

However, Rakesh Roshan told reporters that he had never heard the name of the person before.

Mr. Roshan also denied of making an “out-of-court settlement” with Laxmi Prasad and said that he had never heard of him or made any sort of negotiation.

Well, such issue of copyright infringement is not new in Bollywood in 2009, a script writer named Suchitra Bhatia claimed that the script of Yash Raj Films’ New York Hindi movie was actually written by her.

Aamir Khan starrer, 3 Idiots also faced similar controversy as it is said to have been inspired from popular novelist Chetan Bhagat.

Barbara Mori wants to Fall in Love with an Indian Man

Barbara Mori is in India now and she is trying to get maximum coverage in the Indian media these days. She is in India now for promoting her upcoming Hindi movie Kites. In Kites, she has been acting in opposite of the hero Hrithik Roshan. I do not think that Kites will be very big hit and block buster movie. Perhaps Barbara Mori also knows it and that is why, she is trying to attract the attention of the media and the people. In the past there were a lot of rumors and media speculations that she might have any romantic relationship with Hrithik Roshan. The rumors are not proved yet.
Now, Barbara Mori has stated that she wants to fall in love with an Indian man. Of course, she does not want to get married now in near future. If possible, she wants to taste romance in her life. She has also stated that she likes India very much and would love to come back again. I think that she is interested to make her name in Bollywood. She might be encouraged with the success of Katrina Kaif who came from England. However, you have to remember that Katrina Kaif was of Indian origin. So, it will be interesting to see how the bollywood spectators accept a foreigner actress like Barbara Mori.
