Shakira impressed millions of people in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of World Cup Football 2010 with her Waka Waka song. The song proved to be a big hit in Internet too. So, the organizers of Commonwealth Games 2010 should try to get her for the opening ceremony.

There are some reports that the organizers of the Games are trying to have Katrina Kaif to do something like Shakira did. There is nothing wrong with Katrina Kaif. She is now the top actress in India. However, Commonwealth Games is something in which around 70 nations of the world are expected to take part.

Outside of India, Katrina Kaif is hardly a familiar face. On the other hand, Shakira is now a global celebrity. Even in India, she has become a familiar face thanks to this World Cup. Waka Waka song was broadcast in various TV channels for one month almost every day.

Secondly, Shakira is a singer and she is a much better dancer than Katrina Kaif. So, the organizers of Commonwealth Games 2010 should make Shakira the main attraction instead of Katrina. Katrina can be there but on a different segment.

Commonwealth Games 2010 is going to be the biggest sporting event ever held in India. If they can host it successfully then Indian organizers would get the confidence to dream for arranging Olympic Games in near future.

In this World Cup Football, Shakira has been the biggest hit with her song Waka Waka. She has got huge coverage right across the globe. She has now openly supported the Spanish national team for the final match.

This would make all the fans of Spanish football team very happy. Shakira is from Columbia and almost all the people in the country are speakers of Spanish language.

The famous singer of Waka Waka said, "I have to confess that, Hispanic as I am, it is my moral duty to support the Spanish team and also because I have friends on the Spanish team.

The World Cup is yet to finish and it will not be shocking if the number of total views pass 100 million. Of course, this stat is only for the English version. This is becoming one of the most viewed songs of all time in YouTube. People from all over the world are enjoying the video. It is also being aired in hundreds of TV channels and radio stations every day in almost all the countries in the world.  

England, France, Italy, Argentina- all big names are out of the tournament already and the people in those countries have now no interest about the tournament but they have no problem to enjoy this song of Shakira.

Waka Waka of Shakira has become a Huge hit in Youtube

Columbian popstar Shakira and Freshlyground’s “Waka Waka” is the official anthem of FIFA World Cup 2010. The lyrics has been written by Shakira.

Shakira performed the song at the World Cup Kick Off Concert that took place at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg. The song was an instant hit.

For Shakira the performance was very emotional for her parents watched the concert and became very proud and emotional. Shakira said,

“That was amazing... one of the most memorable moments — of not only my career but of my life. It was just so emotional……I think that the fact that the World Cup is taking place in Africa just makes it extra special. South Africa is also a country that has so much history and it was just one of those moments I’m sure I’ll never forget,”

However, not all is well with the song. Many are saying that the song has been stripped of its original content and has become meaningless. It would have been better if the song of an African artist had been chosen as the official anthem of the World Cup 2010 as it is hosted by South Africa.

“Waka Waka” is actually copied from another hit song of Cameroon. The original song titled Zangaléwa was sung by Golden Sounds in Fang language. Initially their name was not included in the credits but now it is mentioned.

Two of the band members of Golden Sounds- Ze Bell Jean Pau and Dooh Belly Eugene Victor heard that the World Cup 2010 song has been inspired from their song and in an interview with Sunday Times Cameroon they said that they were “honored.”

The original song was inspired by a military march and it was released in 1986. Pau, Victor, and a third band member Emilie Kojidie wrote the song. The song talks about a World War II rifleman and became an instant hit.

Zangalewa was sung in Fang language of Cameroon and the “Waka Waka” is actually mispronounced.

The song has been a super hit in Youtube. When this report is written, the song has been viewed 45,833,780 times and 53,577 comments have been posted. A new Youtube video showing “behind the scenes” of “Waka Waka.”

Shakira is going to sing in Bollywood movie

After Mexican actress, Barbara Mori, Shakira is going to work in a Bollywood movie.

The 33 year old Columbian singing sensation is going to do a cabaret song in an upcoming Bollywood movie. The song will have Latin influence.

The movie has not been titled. It will be directed by Prakash Chadha who directed Himesh Reshammiya in Aap Ka Suroor. It will also be the first movie of Sachin Joshi as a producer. Sachin Joshi is also the sponsor of the Kolkata IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders.

Famous composer duo, Salim-Sulaiman, is going to compose music for the song. Already, the duo worked with Shakira in her Fifa World Cup 2010 song ‘Waka Waka.’

Salim Merchant said, "We are in talks with her management. She seems to be really willing to collaborate and we are hoping a positive response in 5-6 days,"

If everything goes according to plan, then Shakira will be a recording the song within a month.

In 2009, popular Australian pop singer, Kylie Minogue, did an item number in Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, and Lara Dutta starrer, Blue Hindi movie. The item number became immensely popular among people.

Most probably, Shakira would also do an item number. There is no doubt that with her beautiful voice and unique belly dance Shakira would definitely set the screen on fire.
