Nissan Micra is being produced at the Nissan manufacturing plant in Oragadam, Chennai. Initially, 1,900 employees are working at the plant. The company would increase up to 6,000 employees.
Nissan Motor CEO, Kiminobu Tokuyama, in a statement said, “The day that all of us were waiting for has finally arrived and we are delighted with roll out of the first car. We always had a clear strategy for
Mr. Tokuyama also said that the Chennai plant will initially produce 200,000 units per year. The company is looking forward to sell 80,000 units in 2010.
Interested buyers can pre-order at Nissan showrooms. The booking amount is Rs. 50,000. Very soon, Nissan will start ad campaign for the Micra in different mediums.
Various media reports speculated that the price of the Micra will range between Rs.400,000 and Rs.500,000.
