Rajasthan is the largest state of India in terms of area. It occupies an area of 132,150 km2. It covers 10.41% of total area of India. It occupies most of the area of the Thar Desert. On the west of Rajasthan, there is Pakistan, Gujarat on the southwest, Madhya Pradesh on the southeast, Uttar Pradesh and Harya on the northeast and Punjab to the north. Jaipur is capital of Rajasthan which is also the largest city of the state. Rajasthan was formed on March 30, 1949. All the small states dominated by the Rajputanas were merged together.
