Schedule of England vs Pakistan Test, T20 and ODI Series 2010

England will take on Pakistan in a 4-match test series, 2-match twenty20 series and 5-match ODI series at home in the upcoming Pakistan’s tour of England 2010. The tour also includes 2 twenty20 and 2 test matches between Pakistan and Australia. Besides these international matches, Pakistan will play several tour matches against county teams during the tour.

Pakistan’s tour of England begins on 28 June with the 3-day tour match against Kent at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury. However, the test series between Pakistan and England kicks off on 29 July at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Twenty20 series starts on 5 September, while ODI series gets underway from 10 September.

Pakistan did not play too many test matches over the last couple of years as a number of test playing countries refused to tour Pakistan due to security concerns in the country. In fact, Pakistan did not host any test match since March 2009 when Sri Lankan team and match officials came under a deadly terrorist attack in Lahore.

Pakistan’s previous England tour in 2006 was full of drama. The controversial Oval test saw Pakistani players walking out the field in protest of umpires’ allegation over ball tempering against Pakistan. England was announced winner in the Oval Test. Pakistan lost the test series 3-0 on the tour.

England recent form in test cricket is pretty much satisfactory. Since last year’s Ashes win, England did not lose any test series. They drew the 4-match series 1-1 in South Africa, before winning the 2-match series by 2-0 in Bangladesh. Pakistan’s test form is totally opposite as they lost 6 out of their last 9 test matches.

England’s form in shorter form of cricket is also very good. They recently won the T20 world cup 2010 in West Indies, while Pakistan was the losing semi finalists of the tournament. Pakistan also lost all the ODI matches in their Australia tour earlier this year.
