Singam Tamil movie review

On May 28, 2010, Tamil action movie, Singam, was released in theatres and it came out to be a winner. It is an action movie that revolves around an honest police officer. With such a good start, industry analysts hope that the movie would break the record of 2009 hit Tamil movie, Ayan.

Shooting of Singam started in August 2009. During the first schedule, the crew shot the movie in different exclusive locations in India. It went to Tirunelveli, Ambasamudram, Kutralam, Karaikudi and Thuthukudi. In the second schedule, the shooting took place in Chennai, Hyderabad and Vizag.

A song had been shot in Dubai in the Creek Park and in Qantab beach, Muscat. Another song was shot in the fishing harbour in Tuticorin. A good portion of the movie had been shot in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts. A fight scene was shot near the AVM Hospital in Tuticorin

“Singam” means Lion. The movie tells the story of Durai Singam (Surya Sivakumar), an honest police officer who lives in Nellore, which lies between Vijayawada and Chennai. Durai Singam is very much interested to run his father’s provision stores but his father wants him to become a police officer and so he does.

Singam solves civil cases on his own attempts and becomes very successful. Meanwhile, Singam comes across Kavya (Anushka Shetty), daughter of a rich businessman (Nasser) who comes to spend holiday. Kavya is impressed by the good nature of Surya and falls in love with him.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, notorious gangster, Mayil Vaaganam (Prakash Raj) is spreading fear among people. He threatens people by kidnapping their kids. Then in a case, Vaaganam faces Shingam and the two gets into a big fight.

Singam is a high voltage action movie and people will enjoy it. After interval, there is a high voltage chase scene between Prakash and Surya.

The music of Singam has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The songs are very well composed and they fit into the movie very well. There are six songs in the movie

  1. SINGAM IS A ACTION MOVIE BUT THE CHAIN OF THE MOVIE REVOLVES BETWEEN SURYA AND PRAKASH RAJ. THE MOVIE MADE A GOOD REVENUE IN BOX OFFICE SO SINGAM IS A VERY GOOD MOVIE AND SURYA ACTING IS AWESOME.

  7. with little bit of tighter screen play and inclusion of realistic fight scenes would have made this movie a complete entertainer. It has a good enterntainment story line but not very impressive with the way the potentials of Surya and Prakash raj have been used although both Prakash and Surya gave their best which truly does make up for the pitfalls of the movie.

  9. It a moview worth seeing. Surya is at his best and potrays the role of "Singam" very well. The choice of selecting Surya did well for Singam.
