T20 World Cup 2010 Super Eight Schedule

Group stage matches of twenty20 world cup 2010 have finished. Eight teams from 4 groups have qualified for the Super Eight round. In this round, 8 teams are divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each. Group E consists of Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa and England, while Group F includes Australia, Sri Lanka, India and West Indies.

Each team will face other teams in the same group once in a round robin league system. Top two teams in terms of points achieved would progress to the semi final round. In the semi final, group E champion will face group F runner up, and group F champion will take on group E runner up.

Four teams: New Zealand, West Indies, India and Australia- reached the Super Eight round winning both of their group stage matches. It would be interesting to see if they can continue the momentum in Super Eight round too. Defending champion Pakistan did not look very convincing as they failed to impress against Australia. The good side is that the Caribbean wickets are helping the pacers a lot and Pakistani pacers have done pretty well.

India has convincingly won both the games and Suresh Raina’s century gave a lot of confidence to their batting line up that is missing explosive Virender Sehwag. Indian bowlers, specifically their bowlers, have shown sheer amount of prospect. Loosing Muralitharan was a blow for Sri Lanka, but Mahela Jayawardene’s batting form could give them lot of confidence. Following a moral denting a loss to Zimbabwe in a warm up game, Australia retains their confidence with two back to back strong performances. New Zealand bowlers showed their dominance and it seems that they a have very good chance to win the title this year.

Though West Indies reached the last eight easily, they were not very convincing as a home team. After dismissing Ireland only for 68, West Indies bowlers conceded 191 runs in the second match. Overall, they need to be more consistent. England batting in the same way was very good against West Indies, but they fell against Ireland. So, there is also lack of consistency in England side. South Africa also needs to lift their game if they really want to put an end to their world cup title drought.

Here, I am giving the schedule of the rest of the tournament:
