US team will set out for South Africa next Sunday after facing Turkey in Philadelphia on Saturday in another friendly match. The match against Czech Republic is very important because this is the last chance for the American players to impress the coach, and thus, strengthening their claim for a place in the final squad.

The last time US faced the Czechs was not a memory that they would like to cherish. Czech Republic boasting of the players like Pavel Nedved, Milan Baros and Jan Koller defeated US 3-0 in the 2006 world cup opener. For the game, Bradley would select 23 players of which 17 could be used as 6 substitutes from each side are allowed for the friendly games.

Czechs lost to Turkey 2-1 last Saturday. In fact, Czech Republic did not win any match since September last year. They may not have the stars like Nedved and Baros, but still they have the quality players like Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, Tomáš Hübschman and Bordeaux’s Jaroslav Plasil.

The match brings an opportunity for US coach Bob Bradley to look at some of the players including Edson Buddle who is the leading scorer in MLS this season. Bradley will also have an eye on Herculez Gomez, the highest scorer of Mexican league.

It would also be interesting to see the condition of defender Oguchi Onyewu who has been out of action with a left knee injury since last October. However, Carlos Bocanegra and Jay DeMerit are doubtful for the game with injuries, but they are gradually progressing. Bradley would like to see which formation his team suits best and where to deploy whom.

  1. Milan Baros still plays for Czech Republic. And when you mean a star called tomaas you dont mean hubschman you mean arsenal's rosicky-thier captain-the one who scored two of the three at the world cup.
