Apple iPhone 4 fake recall rumor but real antenna problem

News of iPhone 4 recall spread on Internet like wild fire. The news was first posted by British tabloid, Daily Mail.

The news paper published the news based on a fake Steve Jobs Twitter account. The news report mentioned about the Tweet written by Steve Jobs.

Though after few hours the news paper removed the news from its website in fear of lawsuits from Apple, the damage has already been done.

The rumor spread all over and even affected Apple’s stock price which has almost doubled in the past 52 weeks.

Medias all over the world created a major hype over the new Apple iPhone 4G. Steve Jobs launched the Apple iPhone 4G on June 7, 2010 at the Apple World Wide Developers’ Conference.

After the launch of the iPhone 4G on June 24, 2010, news about defective display and antenna started to mount up in various websites and forums. Many iPhone 4G buyers faced problems while making and receiving calls. This was caused by holding the phone with left hand covering the antennas.

In the newly designed Apple iPhone 4G, the antennas are placed on the side of the phone. Holding the left side of the phone covers the antennas causing signal bar dropping drastically to searching for signals.

There is actually no news about iPhone 4 recall and all this is just a rumor. Steve Jobs referred the antenna problem as a “non-issue” and suggested users to avoid holding the phone that way.

Meanwhile, PC World reported another rumor of an iOS4 firmware update to solve the antenna problem of Apple iPhone 4. Nothing is sure at this point.

On the opening day alone Apple sold 1.5 million units of iPhone 4 and by this time, the number already crossed 2 million. There are also a large number of pre-orders. How long Apple would be able to continue this success is now a big question as the most popular smart phone in the world contains some serious glitches.
