Argentina Wins 2-0 against Greece: World Cup Football 2010 Score

Argentina progressed to the Round of 16 as Group B champion after winning their final group game against Greece 2-0 on Tuesday night. With this victory, Argentina has kept hundred percent winning record in the group stage. Martín Demichelis and Martín Palermo scored for Argentina in the second half of the match.

With this defeat, Greece failed to make it to the next round, while South Korea ensured their progress to knock out stage after a 2-2 draw with Nigeria.

Argentina dominated over Greece from the very beginning of the match and could have won the match by a bigger margin had goalkeeper Alexandros Tzorvas not saved Greece on a number of times.

In the first half, Sergio Agüero, who was in the starting eleven, missed at least two scoring chances, while Messi, Veron and Maxi Rodriguez were also denied by the Greece keeper. Argentina’s dominance continued in the second half too with Diego Milito, Mario Bolatti and Messi missing chances. In the 86th minute, Messi was once again denied, but this time by the side post.

However, Argentina was saved by the two late goals thanks to Demichelis and Palermo. Greece played defensively throughout the match and could not create many scoring opportunities.
