David Silva Close to Join Manchester City on £29m Deal

Spain international David Silva is reportedly very close to move to Premier League club Manchester City on a £29 million deal. City is believed to have offered Silva a lucrative four year contract with a weekly salary of £160,000. Chelsea and Real Madrid are also in the race to secure the midfielder’s service.

In fact, Chelsea has been very much in the race, but they are yet to come to terms with Valencia’s asking price for the 24-year-old. However, there is a possibility Chelsea could give it another shot in their attempt to left winger sign Silva who could be a perfect replacement for Joe Cole. Earlier, Manchester United was also included in the list of interested clubs.

Manchester City officials are now in Spain to complete the deal as early as possible. It is also believed that City and Valencia have already agreed a deal worth £29 million and it is now just a matter of time to announce David Villa’s signing.

Valencia is going through a financial crisis at the moment. The La Liga club has already sold their most prized asset David Villa to Barcelona. A product of Valencia youth side, David Silva had his professional debut with second division club SD Eibar in 2004-05 season, his first loan spell away from Valencia. Later on, he also represented Celta Vigo in a year-long loan spell. Silva has been regular in Valencia since 2006-07 season.

Manchester City is all set to continue their spending spree this summer too. Last summer, they spent a huge amount of money to land the players like Carlos Tevez, Kolo Toure, Gareth Barry and some others, but they failed to clinch a top four finish last season.

Currently, Manchester City is planning to sign a number of big money players including Barcelona’s Yaya Toure, Aston Villa midfielder James Milner and Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovich.
