Debina Bonnerjee is happy but Sania Mirza unhappy

Sania Mirza, the Indian female tennis star, who just got settled with her hubby, Shoaib Malik is unhappy. The reason is, a lesser renowned Bollywood movie maker, P D Garg, is going to make a movie on Sania Mirza. Titled Hyderabadi Damaad, Debina Bonnerjee will play the role of Sania Mirza.
Twenty seven year old Debina Bonnerjee hails from Kolkata. She is a trained Kathak dancer. This is her debut Hindi movie. Debina started her career as a model. She then came to Mumbai to act in movies but accidentally landed in TV serial. As an actress, Debina Bonnerjee first appeared in Ramayana in 2008. The serial was produced by Sagar Arts.
She played the role of Sita along with Gurmeet Choudhary who plays Ram. The two got romantically linked.
She also acted in a Tamil movie, Perarasu, and Telugu and Kannada movies and participated in the NDTV reality show “Pati Patni aur Woh.”
For the role of Sita, Debina had to put on weight. After the serial, the actress hit the gym and lost weight. She said, “After Ramayana, I hit the gym, did horse riding and kickboxing. The results are there for all to see,” says an excited Debina. Ask her how she signed a film and she says, “I’ve always been very sporty in real life. In spite of playing Sita, industry folks did see me as someone who was versatile. That’s why I was approached to play the lead in Hyderabadi Daamad. Initially reluctant, I accepted later when I read the script. I also wanted to do something that was more my age,”
While talking about preparing for the role she said that she did not do any study. She did not watch Sania’s mannerisms. She said that she would bring her own perspective to the character.
Debina is very well aware of the controversial aspect of the movie. Debina said, “There is no intention of insulting anyone. Imagine a woman’s dilemma when she is in a cross-border love story. I will portray it with great sensitivity.”
