Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was established by Government of NCT of Delhi. It was created under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998 which was later amended in 1999. Currently, the university is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). GGSIPU was awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification. The university is also conferred upon “A Grade” by NAAC in 2007.

GGSIPU is an affiliating and teaching university. From its inception, the university is working continuously to promote studies and research in various disciplines of higher education. It mainly focuses on professional education in engineering, technology, architecture, management, medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing, education, law, journalism and mass communication, etc.

(Environment Management), M.Sc.(Forensic Science), M.Sc.(Ciminology), B.Arch., BCA, BBA, MBA, BMC, B.Sc.(MLT), B.Sc.(Hons) Nursing, BJ(MC), BASLP, BRT, B.Pharma, BPT, MPT, BHMCT, B.Ed., LLB, LLM, MAHM, MCPHM, MHRPD, BHMS, MBBS and Ph.D etc. The admission to these programmes are done yearly through Common Entrance Test.
