Liverpool Defender Emiliano Insua Linked with Fiorentina

Serie A club Fiorentina is reportedly interested to sign Liverpool’s Argentine defender Emiliano Insua. However, Christian Purslow, the managing director of Liverpool, could not confirm Fiorentina’s interest and made it clear that no Liverpool player would leave the club until a new manager takes over the job left by Rafael Benitez recently.

Liverpool is currently looking for a new manager and has already shortlisted a number of possible candidates including Fulham manager Roy Hodgson, Manuel Pellegrini, who has recently lost his job at Real Madrid, and former Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.

Emiliano Insua is not the only Liverpool player who has attracted interests from a European club. Considering Liverpool’s financial crisis, a number of European clubs have targeted star Liverpool players like captain Steven Gerrard and Spanish striker Fernando Torres.

While Real Madrid is looking to secure Gerrard’s service, Chelsea and Barcelona are in the race of signing Torres. Jamie Carragher has already been linked with Barcelona and Ryan Babel is a target of Birmingham City. It is also believed that former manager Benitez would also like one or two Liverpool players to join him at Inter Milan.

Liverpool managing director has also revealed that if Emiliano Insua insists a move to Fiorentina, then they would talk to the Italian club. However, he does not believe that Insua wants to leave Anfield.

Emiliano Insua joined Liverpool in 2007 in a move from Boca Juniors youth side. The 21-year-old left back, however, could not yet cement a place in Liverpool’s regular first eleven.
