Manchester City Ready to Spend £36 Million for Edin Dzeko

Manchester City is now reportedly ready to spend £36 million to sign the Bosnia and Herzegovina striker Edin Dzeko. City is all set to go for the Wolfsburg player in its bid to strengthen its forward line up for the next season.

Edin Dzeko has had an excellent season with the Bundesliga club, scoring 27 goals from 46 matches. His performance has attracted a number of top European clubs including AC Milan, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich. However, City’s bid was a way better than those of the others.

Edin Dzeko has scored 14 goals in 23 appearances for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 24-year-old also has 56 goals from 94 Bundesliga matches for Wolfsburg since his move to the German club in 2007.

Wolfsburg recently announced that the striker would stay at the club, but now it seems City’s offer could make them think otherwise. The amount City wants to spend would add to manager Steve McClaren’s transfer budget.

Manchester City failed to impress this season, despite spending a huge amount last summer. It seems the club’s Arab owner would continue splashing the cash this summer too. The club has already been linked with big money moves for Valencia midfielder David Silva and Aston Villa midfielder James Milner.

City tried to sign Dzeko last season too and was interested to spend £25 million to acquire his service. The kind of offer City has made this time seems it would be hard for the German club to say ‘no’. However, Wolfsburg has now revealed their interest in two City men: Craig Bellamy and Roque Santa Cruz.

So, there is every possibility one of the two strikers could be involved in the Edin Dzeko deal.
