Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) is a public university is located in Haryana India. Established in 1976, through an Act of the Legislative Assembly of Haryana the main goal behind establishing MDU was to establish and incorporate a teaching-cum-affiliating university in the region of Rohtak to encourage interdisciplinary higher education and research with special emphasis on studies of life sciences and environmental and ecological sciences.

It is named after the great saint Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati. MDU is the premiere higher educational institution in Rohtak. MDU offers various courses at undergraduate, post graduate and doctorate levels.

Aside from offering courses the university also affiliates and offers different programs through various colleges, institutes and centers in Rohtak. Its jurisdiction covers the districts of Bhiwani, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Mahendergarh, Rewari, Rohtak, and Sonepat.

Over the years, the university achieved great level of sucess in academic pursuits, expansion programs and infrastructural development. Aside from life sciences, the university has 13 faculties, 27 post graduate department and 77 academic programs.
