Mexico vs Uruguay FIFA 2010 Ends in 1-0 Score

Uruguay defeated Mexico 1-0 in their final group stage match in World Cup 2010. However, both sides have made it to the knock-out round as France was suffered a humiliating 2-1 loss at the hands of South Africa who narrowly missed out on a place in the second round. Uruguay striker Suárez scored the winning goal for his team in the 43rd minute.

With this victory, Uruguay finished at the top of the point table of Group A with 7 points to their credit. The Latin Americans would now most probably face South Korea or Greece in the round of 16. On the other hand, Mexico, despite this loss, has clinched a place in the next round, finishing second in the point table.

Both Mexico and South Africa have equal 4 points, but the North Americans reached the second round on better goal difference. However, Mexico would not be very happy as they would now most probably face two-time World Champion Argentina in the round of 16.

Beleaguered France was looking for a big margin victory over South Africa in their attempt to progress to the second round, but the 1998 champions were outperformed by South Africa who could at least give some cheering moments to the home fans.
