Milan Jovanovic All Set to Join Liverpool

Serbian international Milan Jovanovic is now very close to joining English club Liverpool this summer. He is currently busy with international duty in World Cup, but reports out in the media suggest that the striker would move to the Merseyside club after the expiration of his contract with Belgian club Standard Liege.

Jovanovic was a target of Liverpool’s former manager Rafael Benitez who recently left the club and joined European champion Inter Milan as their new boss. However, that would not make Liverpool think otherwise about the signing of Milan Jovanovic. In fact, it seems that his move to Liverpool is now a mere formality.

Liverpool is now looking for Benitez’s replacement and it seems the club would announce its new manager very soon. Fulham manager Roy Hodgson and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish are the frontrunners in the race to get the job.

It would be a challenging task for the new Liverpool boss as his first job would be to keep hold of their current stars like Gerrard and Torres. A number of European clubs are now looking to capitalize on Liverpool’s dire financial situation.

Gerrard is a prime target of Real Madrid, while Torres has attracted attention from Manchester City, Barcelona and Chelsea.

The signing of Milan Jovanovic would come as good news for the Liverpool fans who have not been seeing any hope at the end of the tunnel for sometime now. Liverpool performed miserably last season as they failed to clinch a Champions League spot.

  1. Pellegrini would be more of a front runner than Dalgish. Only a blind optimist would thunk he would be managing Liverpool next season
