Real Madrid Planning a £50m Bid for Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole

After signing Argentina international Angel di Maria for £20million from Benfica, Real Madrid is now planning to sign Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard and Chelsea left back Ashley Cole for a combined fee of £50 million. It seems that these two signings would almost complete Real Madrid’s shopping in the summer transfer market.

Real Madrid has already made a £20 million bid for Steven Gerrard who is valuated at £35 million by his own club. However, given the current financial crisis at Liverpool, it seems an improved bid for the England international could convince Liverpool.

Real Madrid has also officially made their interest in Ashley Cole known to Chelsea and the Spanish giants are now ready to splash around £25 million for the England international.

Steven Gerrard has so far been a ‘one club’ player as he started his professional career at Liverpool in 1998 and so far remained at the Merseyside club. Though he failed to win any Premier League title, Gerrard captained the All Reds in their 2005 Champions League glory. The 30-year-old has also captained England in the 2010 World Cup in the absence of regular captain Rio Ferdinand.

Ashley Cole has been a regular starter for England as well as Chelsea over the last few years and he is now one of the best left backs in Europe. The 29-year-old has represented England in 82 matches and won two Premier League titles and three FA Cup titles while playing for Arsenal and Chelsea. He joined the Blues in a move away from Arsenal in 2006.
