Real Madrid Preparing £15m Bid for Glen Johnson

Real Madrid has turned their sight from Inter Milan’s Maicon to Liverpool’s Glen Johnson. In fact, Jose Mourinho, the newly appointed Real Madrid boss, is now lining up a £15 million bid for the Liverpool player.

Jose Mourinho managed Johnson when he was at the helm of Chelsea. However, Chelsea sold him to Portsmouth for £6m before Mourinho left the Blues in 2007. Johnson then moved to Liverpool last year and has had a very good season, despite Liverpool’s poor show.

Mourinho’s initial target, however, was Maicon who recently won treble with Inter Milan under the guidance of Mourinho. However, Inter is totally reluctant to let him go. So, Mourinho has now turned his attention to Glen Johnson.

Glen Johnson plays on the right back position for Liverpool and England. However, his pace and attacking intent could be valuable assets for any side.

Real Madrid is all set to strengthen their squad ahead of the next season and is believed to have handed Mourinho a handsome transfer kitty in their pursuit of winning silverware next season.

Real Madrid spent heavily last Summer to bring in the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and some other high profile players. However, they could not win any trophy last season resulting in the sacking of manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Jose Mourinho, on the other hand, has won a prestigious ‘Treble’ with Inter Milan last season including the Champions League title. Now, Real Madrid officials and fans are expecting that Mourinho magic would continue at the Bernabeu too.
