Riquelme Going to West Ham United?

Argentine playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme has been a target of Premier League club West Ham United. His contract with Boca Juniors expired recently and he is now a free agent.

So, West Ham is trying to land this former Argentina star and strengthen their attacking line up ahead of the next season. West Ham owner David Sullivan is reportedly ready to offer Riquelme a £50,000 weekly salary.

However, newly appointed West Ham manager Avram Grant does not want to rush to sign the 32-year-old attacking midfielder. Rather, he is looking to consider other available options before taking a final decision on Riquelme deal.

Though he is now 32, no body can deny his influence he had in the success of Boca Juniors over the last two years. So, West Ham United is now looking to capitalize on his free agent status, and thus, adding a star player to their roster who can help them on the field by setting up goals and scoring himself as well as off the field by his star image.

Juan Roman Riquelme has no previous experience of playing Premier League. So, it may cast some doubt over his ability to make an impact in this physically demanding league, but his experience of playing for big clubs like Barcelona in Spanish league and Boca Juniors in Argentina league could help him shine with West Ham United.
