Schedule of India vs Sri Lanka Test Series 2010

India and Sri Lanka are going to face each other in a three-match test series starting from 18 July. India is currently the no. 1 team in ICC test ranking. They would now like to increase the point difference with second-placed South Africa winning the test series.
Sri Lanka, currently 4th in the ranking, knows that a series win over the no. 1 ranked India would help them make a jump in the ranking. So, the hosts would also look to win the series.
The last time India played a test series in Sri Lanka was in 2008 when the hosts defeated the visiting side 2-1 with Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis dominating over the Indian batsmen. However, India took a sweet revenge when they defeated Sri Lanka 2-0 in a 3-match test series last year with Sreesanth, Harbhajan and Zaheer Khan performing at their best.
Out of their total 32 meetings in test cricket, India won 13 times, while Sri Lanka emerged winner on 5 occasions. 14 other matches ended up in draw. It seems India has dominated over their neighbors most of the time.
However, it will not be the same if someone counts the test matches held since the turn of the new century. Since 2001, India and Sri Lanka faced each other 12 times in test cricket with India winning 6 and Sri Lanka 4 matches. Only 2 were drawn. So, it proves that the difference between the two sides have been reduced drastically.
