Steven Gerrard: I could Join Real Madrid in the Summer

England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that he could move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Summer transfer window. However, the midfielder has also said that he would decide on his club future after the end of the World Cup.

Following England’s poor show against Algeria, Gerrard said to the media, “It is possible that I'll be in Madrid next season. I'm aware of the club's offer so maybe we'll see each other in Madrid. I can't say anymore.
I'm just concentrating on the World Cup. My agent is looking after it all.”

Though Liverpool has no intention to lose their highly successful captain, the Merseyside club could come to the negotiation table upon the insistence of Gerrard. Real Madrid, however, has asked Liverpool to decrease their asking price of £30m for the 30-year-old.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is also interested to sign Gerrard’s England teammate Frank Lampard who is also the former student of Mourinho at Chelsea. Meanwhile, Real Madrid has also been linked with Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi.

Steven Gerrard, who led Liverpool to win the Champions League title in 2005, is not happy with the way the club is being run at the moment. Liverpool failed to finish in the top four in Premier League last season, and thus, missing the Champions League next season.

It is believed that Real Madrid, who are on spending spree this summer too, have made a lucrative offer to Gerrard which could be too enticing to refuse for a player of his age.
