Toyota Corolla Altis diesel is coming to India in July

Japanese auto giant, Toyota Motor Corp., is going to launch the diesel version of its Corolla Altis in India. After successful launch of the petrol variant of Corolla Altis, Toyota is now going to introduce the diesel version.

Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motors Ltd. said, “ We will launch the Corolla Altis diesel anytime between 20th and 23rd of July. We haven’t finalized the date, but it will be on one of these three days.”

The Corolla Altis Diesel will have 1.4liter 90hp CRDi engine with 6-speed transmission. The engine has a maximum power of 102PS and maximum 200 Nm torque. The car will have a fuel efficiency of 21.43 kmpl.

The diesel version of Altis comes with some design enhancement to distinguish itself from the petrol version. The Corolla Altis diesel has crystal head lamps, turn indicator mounted on side-mirrors, newly designed grille, body color bumpers, remote key filler, rear defogger and OVRM indictors. Interior has arm rest with cup holder, automatic climate control system, centralized locking, and power windows.

Toyota has not yet revealed the price of the vehicle. The Corolla Altis Diesel version is an entry level luxury sedan belonging to the D segment. It will compete with the diesel variants of Skoda Octavia, Skoda Laura, and VW Jetta.

The car will be imported as completely knocked down unit and then assembled at the plants of Toyota Kirloskar Motors Ltd.

Currently, Toyota sells the petrol version of the Altis and is believed that the diesel version would be more costly somewhere between Rs.1.1 million to Rs.1.45 million.
