Gujarat is an Indian state. Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat and Ahmedabad is the largest city of the state. Home to Gujarati speaking people, the state contains some of the major cites of the Indus Valey civilization including Lothal, Dholavira.

The state played a major role in the economy of ancient India. Lothal was one of the first ports of India. Gujarat is also the birth place of Mohandas Gandhi, who is considered as “the father of Indian nation.”

Currently, Gujarat is one of the fastest growing economies in India. Cotton, groundnuts (peanuts), dates, sugar, cane, milk and milk products account for majority of the agricultural production of the state.

Industrial products include cement and petrol. At present, Gujarat’s industrial sector accounts for 39% of India’s industrial output, 10% of mineral production, 80% of salt production, 25% of its textile production
