Apple iPhone tops Change Wave Research latest smart phone market survey

Though Apple’s latest iPhone 4 is plagued with glitches, it is still the best and most popular smart phone in the U.S. Recent study revealed by Consumer Reports, spoke negatively about Apple iPhone4. Consumer Reports said that it would not recommend people to buy the Apple iPhone 4 but it also said that there is no reason not to buy the Apple iPhone 4.

ChangeWave Research, a reputed market research firm, published its latest smartphone survey results where iPhone and Android phones came out as winners. ChangeWave Research conducts survey on smartphone market in every quarter. This time, the company conducted its survey on 4,028 respondents between June 14, 2010 and June 24, 2010. The survey did not take into accounts the iPhone 4 owners.

The June survey revealed a major boost in the smartphone market. 16.4 percent respondents said that they had been planning to buy a smartphone in the next 90 days. It is the biggest percentage ever recorded by the company. In June 2009, when the iPhone 3G S was released, there was a 14.4 percent increase. This reveals the impressive growth of the smartphone market in the U.S.

Apple came out as the top favorite among respondents who had been planning to buy a smartphone in the next 90 days. 52 percent of the respondents are going to buy the Apple iPhone which is higher compared to 31 percent in the last quarter. 19 percent wanted to buy HTC which also increased from last quarter’s 12 percen. BlackBerry observed significant drops to 9 percent from 14 percent.

iPhone also topped the satisfaction ratings with 73 percent iPhone owners saying they are satisfied with their phones. HTC scored 39 percent and Motorola and Palm scored 34 percent. BlackBerry scored the lowest- 30 percent. For the last seven quarters, BlackBerry’s consumer satisfaction has been declining.
