Argentina Football: Impressive Carlos Tevez, Irresistible Lionel Messi and Lucky Higuain

Following Argentina’s dominating performance so far in the ongoing World Cup Football 2010, any neutral analysis would show that Argentina has the biggest chance to win the tournament.

Their defense may not be that great, but their attacking line up in the presence of Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez and Higuain could be lethal against any side.

Lionel Messi could not yet score any goal so far, but his impact on Argentine attack has been immense. More precisely, Messi has appeared with his irresistible from that he generally shows while playing for Barcelona. In fact, he was the source of Argentina’s most of the goals so far in the World Cup.

Following an impressive season with Manchester City with 23 Premier League goals in 35 appearances, Carlos Tevez has made a huge impact in Argentina’s performance. He has already scored 2 goals including the controversial one against Mexico in the last 16. More importantly, his movement in the box has created opportunities for fellow striker Gonzalo Higuain.

If Messi is unstoppable and Tevez is excellent, then Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain seems to be lucky. Coming off an excellent season with Real Madrid netting 27 league goals, Higuain was not in good shape in the tournament opener against Nigeria, but the fact is that he is currently one of the three joint top scorers in the World Cup with 4 goals to his name including a hat-trick against South Korea.

It may suggest that Higuain has regained his scoring form, but the fact of the matter is that he was fortunate enough to get those goals. Except the third goal against South Korea, he had hardly any contribution to those goals, except tapping or heading it into the post.
