Suchitra Sen admitted to hospital is stable now

Suchitra Sen, the popular Bengali actress of the 1950s, has been admitted to a hospital for respiratory infection and chest jamming. The actress’s condition is better now.

She was admitted to a private hospital in South Kolkata on the afternoon of June 20, 2010. The actress was admitted into the intensive care cardiac unit .

The 79 year old actress had been suffering multiple illnesses and had been living a private life for the last 33 year.

Aside from lung infection, she has been suffering from urinary tract infection and fever.

The actress told the hospital authorities that the hospital authority would be responsible for any invasion of her privacy.

Suchitra Sen was born in Pabna to a local head master Karunamoy Dasgupta and Indira Dasgupta. She was their fifth child and third daughter. She finished her formal education in Pabna.

She was married to Dibanath Sen, son of a wealthy Bengali industrialist, Adinath Sen in 1947. She gave birth to a daughter named Moon Moon Sen who went on to become a popular actress.

Sen’s debuted as an actress in 1952 with Shesh Kothaay. Next year, she was paired up with Uttam Kumar in Sharey Chuattor. The movie was a big hit and gave birth to the legendary pair of Uttam-Suchitra.
