Peepli Live of Aamir Khan is competing at the Sun Dance Film Festival

Aamir Khan’s Peepli Live is already creating a lot of buzz. The movie is the first from India to compete in the prestigious American Sun Dance Film Festival.

German distribution company, Rapid Eye Movies, took up the movie for a special screening at the ongoing Berlin International Film Festival.

Peepli Live is a satirical movie produced by Aamir Khan’s Production. The movie is written by Anusha Rizvi. Peepli Live talks about the suicide of Indian farmers.

The movie tells the story of Natha (Onkar Das) and Budhia (Raghuvir Yadav) two lower-caste brothers who earn livings as farmers and lives on the outskirts of Peepli, a village in Uttar Pradesh. Due to their outstanding debts they are going to lose their land and they went to the town to meet the local politician.

He then tells them that to get rid of their debt, they should commit suicide. The two brothers then sit down to talk about who should commit suicide.

The movie will be released on August 13, 2010. The TV Channels are offering Rs.100 million for the satellite rights of his movie. It is much higher than the production cost of the movie.

Since Aamir Khan has a very good record at the box office for giving hit movies like Ghajini and 3 Idiots, TV channel owners are showing great interest to get the satellite rights of the movie.
