Didier Drogba is a Manchester City Target: Rumor or Truth?

Thierno Seydi, the agent of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, has revealed that Manchester City is interested to secure the service of his Ivorian client. City is currently on the lookout for a striker in the summer transfer window.

Now, according to Seydi, City has already contacted with him in their pursuit of landing the player at Eastlands this summer. During an interview with French Radio, Thierno Seydi said, “There may be surprises before August 31. I haven't spoken to just anybody. The only direct contact I have had was with Manchester City.”

Manchester City also revealed their interest in Drogba earlier, but then turned their focus to Wolfsburg’s Edin Džeko and Inter Milan’s Mario Balotelli. Even Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also been linked with Manchester City.

Now, it seems that City is once again eyeing on Drogba after seeing little progress in their attempt to sign Balotelli and Džeko. Ibrahimovic also looks most likely to stay at the Catalan side.

However, Drogba’s agent also indicated that signing his client would not be easier for City. Mr. Seydi added, “But getting Drogba out of Chelsea is not an easy task because he has all the conditions he needs to flourish there. At his age I can no longer hide the financial aspect. The club that want Didier will have to meet the price. He has spoken before about returning to Marseille, that is the club where his heart lies. But that is not for this moment.”

So, it is pretty much clear that Didier Drogba could consider a move to the Eastlands, if City comes up with an offer that he can not resist. It is pretty much understandable that Drogba, at 32, would now like to make some quick cash before he is pushed down the Chelsea pecking order. Here, it is noteworthy that Didier Drogba was the top scorer of English Premier League last season.

Overall, it does not seem to be a rumor because the indication has come from Drogba’s agent. However, a deal for Drogba looks highly doubtful as Chelsea would like to keep their hold on one of their most successful strikers ever.
