Edin Dzeko: Going Where?

Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko is now in the target list of a number of top European clubs including Juventus, AC Milan, Manchester City and Bayern Munich. The player is naturally happy to have attracted interest of these big clubs.

Edin Dzeko has been in hot-shot form over the last couple of seasons playing for Wolfsburg and was the top sorer in Bundesliga last season. The 24-year-old striker has already represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in 26 international matches and scored 15 goals.

Though Edin Dzeko is highly interested to move away from the German outfit this summer, Wolfsburg is reluctant to let him move and that is in evident of their £50 million valuation of the player. Now, the question is where Edin Dzeko is heading to this summer.

Edin Dzeko has already made it clear that Italian club AC Milan is his preferred destination and he is even ready to wait for another week to see if Milan revives their interest in him. AC Milan attempted to sign him last summer, but backed out later on when Wolfsburg demanded a reported £25 million.

There is every possibility AC Milan could make another move for Dzeko, but before that they have to sell their last summer signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who failed to impress in his debut season with Milan.

Huntelaar has already attracted the attention of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, and Milan is now reportedly asking around £12.5 million for the player. The Italian giants are also tracking Uruguay international Diego Forlan and Brazilian striker Robinho.

Juventus is also very much in the race to secure the service of Dzeko as their general director Giuseppe Marotta has recently revealed that the Wolfsburg star is an ‘object of their desire’.

Marotta said to the media, “Dzeko? It's the dream that I'm working on. He is one of the best strikers in the world and clearly he is an object of our desire. It's true that we are negotiating and I have spoken to them [Wolfsburg] but they are asking for a lot and we are trying to follow the cheaper option…”

However, Juventus has other options too. If they fail to sign Dzeko, the Serie A club would then move for CSKA Moscow’s Milos Krasic who is also a target of City. Juve could also move for Atletico Madrid striker Forlan.

Bayern Munich has been another suitor of Edin Dzeko and the German giants are reportedly interested to offer Mario Gomez plus £16.5 million in a part-swap part cash deal for Dzeko. Gomez was a flop at Bayern last season following his last summer move from Stuttgart.

When it comes to the financial aspect of a possible deal for Dzeko, Manchester City seems to be favorite. Only City has the financial capability to meet Wolfsburg’s asking price of £50 million. However, it still remains to be seen if Edin Dzeko wants to move to a club which can not yet offer Champions League football.

Overall, AC Milan looks more favorite at the moment as Edin Dzeko is interested to move to the Italian outfit. However, Milan’s financial ability could restrict them from making another move for the Bosnian striker and City’s opportunity lies herein.
