Fernando Torres Joining Chelsea?

Liverpool’s Spanish striker Fernando could lave Anfield in the summer to join another Premier League club. Recently, his agent Jose Antonio Martin indicated that the 26-year-old client would move to another EPL club in a move away from Liverpool. However, he did not mention which club Torres was pondering to join.

Antonio said to the media, ‘It is very likely that Fernando Torres will stay in the Premier League, but I cannot say that it will be with Liverpool. We are working on his future but right now you cannot guarantee that he will stay with the English club.’

Following this statement, Chelsea seems to be ahead of other possible suitors in the race to secure the service of Fernando Torres. Chelsea has always been interested to sign him since the end of the last season. If Torres moves to Chelsea, the Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti would have a deadly attacking line up in the presence of Torres, Drogba and Anelka.

However, it would be interesting to see if Manchester City revives their interest in the Spain international after signing Yaya Toure and David Silva.

Earlier, Spanish giant Barcelona also revealed their interest in Fernando Torres who is currently on international duty with Spain’s World Cup squad in South Africa.

Fernando Torres is now struggling for his scoring form in the World Cup as he could not yet score any goal in the tournament. The striker was out of action for a long time due to injury during the last season and missed a lot of action for Liverpool who eventually finished 7th in the league table.

Torres joined Liverpool from Atletico Madrid in 2007 and has so far represented the All Reds in 79 league matches scoring 56 goals.

Seeing Liverpool’s current financial crisis, a number of Liverpool players are all set to leave the Anfield this summer including their captain Steven Gerrard. So, it would only make the job tougher for the newly appointed Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson.
