Germany vs Spain: Bastian Schweinsteiger could be Deciding Factor

Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben seem to be the hero of Netherlands in their last night’s semi final win over Uruguay. However, no body can deny the contribution of holding midfielder Mark van Bommel who nullified many Uruguayan attacks and created havoc in the build up of the South American’s attack.

There is no doubt, the role of holding midfielder has been crucial in achieving success so far in the tournament. Players like Mark van Bommel, Nigel de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira have already proven it.

Now, ahead of the second semi final of the tournament where Spain and Germany are facing each other, Germans are expecting another solid performance from box to box defensive midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

In the past, Schweinsteiger has been the news for many wrong reasons, but in this tournament, he has been as important as Mesut Ozil, Muller and Klose for Germany. Now, he has another big task ahead of him as he has got to deal with the creative players like Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas while facing Spain.

Germany may have thrashed England and Argentina in the previous two rounds, but now they have to face Spainish midfield which is perhaps the best in the world, at least, on pen and paper.

The likes off Xavi, Iniesta, Alonso and David Villa are also aware of the Bastian Schweinsteiger threat who has so far been excellent in intercepting opposition passes, and thus, destroying the build up of their attacks.
