Harbhajan Singh, Sreesanth Missed First Net Session in Sri Lanka

Two key Indian bowlers Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth missed the first team net session in Sri Lanka due to fitness problem. it is a definitely a matter of worry for team India ahead of the warm-up match against Sri Lanka Board President XI starting from 13 July.

Harbhajan Singh was absent in the net session due to fever, while Sreesanth took rest as he was feeling some problems on his knee. However, BCCI has not revealed anything on the nature of his injury and if he would be available for the warm-up match.

However, Indian batsmen did not have to suffer for lack of net bowlers as BCCI sent two extra bowlers in Jaidev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav only to be used in the nets. Few days back, Zaheer Khan was ruled out of the upcoming test series because of injury, and thus, reducing India’s options in pace attack.

In the absence of Zaheer, Ishant Sharma and Sreesanth are supposed to lead the Indian pace attack. So, the knee problem of Sreesanth has added to India’s worry.

Harbhajan Singh is the key spinner for the visitors. It is pretty much understandable that missing the off spinner in Sri Lankan condition would be a big blow for Team India. However, it is expected that Harbhajan would get back his full fitness before the three-match test series begins on 18 July in Galle.
