Manchester City Target Aleksandar Kolarov Valuated at £18.7m by Lazio

Manchester City now has to pay £18.7 million to sign Lazio left back Aleksandar Kolarov who has also been linked with Real Madrid. Manchester City has not yet made any official bid for the Serbian defender, but Real has had a £12 million bid rejected by the Italian club.

However, Claudio Lotito, the Lazio president, has recently confirmed that they would accept offers for the 24-year-old who already expressed his desire to play for a bigger club next season.

Manchester City has already revealed their interest to sign Kolarov whose current contract ties him with the Serie A club until 2011. Since moving to Lazio from OFK Beograd in 2007, Kolarov has been in excellent form. So, it is natural that European clubs are now interested to secure his service.

Real Madrid is also tracking Chelsea left back Ashley Cole who recently revealed his interest to move to Spain following his highly publicized divorce from wife Cheryl.

Manchester City currently has two specialist left backs in Wayne Bridge and Javier Garrido, while regular center back Joleon Lescott could also play as a left back. Now, if City can sign Aleksandar Kolarov, Mancini would have another quality option for the left back position and Kolarov’s arrival could also push Wayne Bridge down the pecking order in the race of clinching a regular place in City’s starting line up.

Lazio is now waiting for Manchester City offer for the player. Given the high spending recent nature of City, it is possible that City could agree on a £18.7 million deal for Aleksandar Kolarov.
