Manchester United Made £25m Move for Wesley Sneijder

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has revealed that his club has received a Manchester United offer worth £25 million for their Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder. However, Moratti has also made it clear that Inter has no intention of selling their most prized asset.

Wesley Sneijder is now one of the contenders for both Gold Boot and Golden Ball awards of FIFA World Cup 2010. His excellent performance helped Netherlands to reach the tournament final. He has already scored 5 goals in 6 matches in the World Cup. So, it is natural that he has attracted the attention of a big club like Manchester United.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is now in search of like for like replacements for his ageing midfield duo Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. Given his quality, Sneijder could be a very good replacement for either of the two. His creativity as a midfielder could be very effective to get the best out of Wayne Rooney. In fact, Sneijder and Rooney could form a lethal attack for United.

Wesley Sneijder played a key role behind Inter Milan’s treble success last season. The 26-year-old joined the Serie A club last summer in a move away from Real Madrid and impressed his new employer in his debut season.

Inter Milan has been so much impressed by the Dutch that they have recently offered him a two-year contract extension with an improved salary. Wesley Sneijder’s current contract would expire in 2013, but Inter Milan wants to secure his service till 2015.

Though there are a number of suitors to grab his service, Wesley Sneijder has not said anything on it yet.
