Mercedes SLS AMG sports car in India with a starting price of Rs. 200 million

On July 16, 2010, German luxury car maker, Mercedes launched a super sports car, Mercedes SLS AMG, in India. The car costs between Rs.200 million and Rs.2,50 million.

Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director, Wilfried Aulbur, said, “We are very excited to come with SLS in India. We have started the production couple of weeks ago in Germany, there is no time lag to launch the vehicle in India.”

Mr. Aulbur said that after initial booking there will be a waiting period of 6-8 months.

The Mercedes SLS AMG has a futuristic design. Its gull-wing doors, extended bonnet, V-shaped front section and large air intakes, low-position passenger compartment gives it a unique racing car look. The interior of the SLS AMG combines various features of a motor sports car and safety features of Mercedes-Benz. The interior comes with hand-finished nappa leather and real metal trim. There is a solid metal center console, the AMG DRIVE UNIT with AMG E-SELECT selector lever mirror and a host of features. The car is fitted with high quality sports seats with magnesium backrests.

The Mercedes SLS AMG is powered by and advanced 8-cylinder 6.3 litre V8 motor. This engine has 6208 cc capacity and a modified version of the AMG 6.3 litre V8 basic engine. The engine has a maximum output of 420 kW achieved at 6800rpm. It has a maximum of torque of 650 Nm. The Mercedes SLS AMG can accelerate from zero to 100 km/hour in 3.8 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 317 km/h.
