OlivePad VT100: The first 3.5G tablet PC in India from Olive Telecom

Olive Telecom launched India’s first 3.5G tablet PC, OlivePad VT100. It is a multifunctional device that can be used as a touch-enabled notebook for browsing Internet.

User can also use it to like a gaming console, instant messaging, watching movies and social networking, and TV. The OlivePad VT100 can also be used as an e-book reader, GPS for maps and turn by turn directions, and smartphone offering voice and video calling.


The OlivePad VT100 is priced at Rs.25,000 or below that. The device will be launched in India in August 2010. The device is flash supported.

Olive Telecom hopes to sell around 100,000 units in the next six months. The company entered into an agreement with electronic chainstore, Croma centers.

Artem Orange, CEO, CIS/CEE, Olive Telecom said that they are going to launch the product in Central, Eastern Europe and Russia in near future.

OlivePad VT 100 supports 3.5G HSUCPA, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), Bluetooth and quad-band GSM. The device will become also available with tri-band WCDMA support.

OlivePad VT100 runs of Google Android OS. The device comes with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen. It is powered by 600MHz Qualcomm M7227 chipset. It has 512 MB ROM and 512MB RAM which can be expanded up to 32GB via memory card.

Other features include a front-facing camera and a 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus and 4X zoom, mini-USB port, compass, G-sensor, ambient light sensor and dual speakers.
