Sebastian Giovinco to Arsenal: Five Reasons it could Happen

Juventus youngster Sebastian Giovinco is now reportedly in the transfer list of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. Giovinco, who has already starred for Italy U-21 and Italy Olympic team, is now in search of a new club seeking more first team football.

Arsene Wenger, on the other hand, is also reportedly searching for a young talented play maker who can become a replacement of Barcelona target Cesc Fabregas. Now, there are at least 5 reasons, Sebastian Giovinco could be seen in Arsenal jersey next season.

First of all, Wenger would love to have a quality instant back up for Cesc Fabregas because his Catalan suitors could once again try to secure his service next summer. So, Arsenal would not mind signing a creative player like Sebastian Giovinco.

Secondly, Giovinco fits the bill very well for Wenger who likes skilled versatile players with good attacking intent and vision. The 23-year-old has already proven his skill and talent while representing Italy at various age levels. He is a very good dribbler and passer, and can play either as an attacking midfielder or a second striker.

The third reason is financial which is very important when it comes to Arsenal and Wenger. The player could cost him in between £5 million and £10 million, much less than Wenger’s initial target Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Fourth, Sebastian Giovinco is understandably desperate to move away from Juventus seeking more first team football. He could make only 37 league appearances at Juventus since his professional debut in 2006. He also spent a season on loan at Empoli. So, Giovinco would seriously consider a move to the North London club, given Wenger’s youth policy as well as uncertain future of Fabregas.

Finally, Giovinco could be tempted to join Arsenal considering Wenger’s well-known reputation for turning average but talented players into world class players. Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas are the biggest examples. So, naturally Sebastian Giovinco would like to be the next Arsenal star.

  2. No anon, ou have no idea! The fact is, whether we want him to or not, Fabregas is leaving next summer. The point about him being instant back up is a good one. Giovinco would be haldf the price of Ozil too, and I wouldn't say Ozil is twice as good.
