Spain vs Paraguay: Can Fernando Torres Get His Rhythm Back?

While his club future is hanging in the balance, Fernando Torres is now struggling for form in the World Cup in South Africa. The prolific Spanish striker, who returned in action following a period of injury layoff just prior to the World Cup, is yet to open his scoring book in the tournament.

Spain now faces Paraguay on 3 July in their quarter final showdown and the European champions are determined to storm past the South Americans. Spain has some in-form star players, most notably striker David Villa who is currently one of the three joint leading scorers with 4 goals to his name. However, his partner up front, Torres, is yet to get his rhythm back.

Fernando Torres missed a lot of action for Liverpool in the second half of the last season due to injury. This should have been an advantage for the 26-year-old as his teammates have come to South Africa after an exhausting season. However, it seems that Torres has lost his scoring form.

Now, Spanish fans are eagerly waiting to see Fernando Torres at his best against Paraguay and are hoping that he would score in the match. Torres can, however, get inspiration from fellow striker Villa who has been in excellent scoring form.

Torres has been a target of Barcelona in the Summer transfer window and some good performances from Torres in the rest of the tournament could help him earn some lucrative offers from the Catalan side as well as some other clubs.
