With Mikael Silvestre and William Gallas on the verge of leaving, and Sol Campbell yet to decide on his club future, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is now left with only one quality center back in Thomas Vermaelen. The only other option Johan Djourou is not as impressive as to rely on.

Now, the question is if Wenger would be happy to go into the next season with only two quality center backs in his squad. What if Vermaelen or Koscielny suffers an injury during the busy phase of the season?

Madjid Bougherra is physically very strong and can also play as a defensive midfielder. More than that, he would reportedly cost Wenger around £5 million. So, it seems the 27-year-old fits the bill very well for Wenger and the Arsenal manager would not mind giving him a three-year contract.
The bottom line is that Arsenal is most likely to buy two central defenders in the summer transfer window.
