Toyota Etios will be launched in December 2010

Toyota Etios was first unveiled at the 2010 Delhi Auto show. It is a small car developed by Toyota Motor Corp. Etios has been specifically developed for the Indian market. The car will be launched in December 2010.

The Etios will have a sedan version that will come with a newly developed 1.5 liter gasoline engine and the hatchback version will have a 1.2 litre gasoline engine. In order to keep the price low, the car will be produced with locally made parts. The Etios hatchback will be priced around Rs.500,000.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors Ltd. is currently building its second plant at Bidadi near Bangalore which will produce the Etios. At a boot camp for its Fortuner SUV owners in late July, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motors said that the new facility of TKM would be completed soon. Toyota invested Rs. 32 billion in the factory.

Production will start from late 2010, the car will be launched in December and would be ready for sale in January 2011. Toyota is looking forward to sell 70,000 units annually.

Along with India, the Etios will also be sold in Russia, and South America. In Brazil, production of Etios will also start from 2011.
