Volkswagen Vento will be launched in India in September with 7 lakh starting price

German automaker Volkswagen will start selling its entry-level midsized sedan on September 6, 2010. Volkswagen unveiled the car in New Delhi on July 6, 2010. The car will be available in manual and automatic transmission variant. The Vento will be produced at Volkswagen’s Chakan plant in Maharashtra. After Polo, Vento is the second mass market car by Volkswagen.

On the occasion, VW Group Sales Indian Member of Board Neeraj Garg said, "The new Vento is an extension of our commitment towards the Indian consumers of providing the best quality products at competitive prices. Designed for the Indian market, it will be a strong addition to our product portfolio."

The 1.6 liter petrol version has a maximum capacity of 104 HP @ 5250 rpm and a maximum torque of 153 Nm @ 3800 rpm. The diesel variant has a maximum capacity of 104 Hp @4400 rpm and a maximum torque of 250 Nm @ 1500-2500 rpm.

The car is available in Black, Beige, Candy White, Flash Red. Interior features include- steering, gear known with or without leather finish, seat made of Livon fabric/ Livon superior fabric, rear armrest. Safety features include ABS, Airbags, fog lamps and engine immobilizer.

The car will be available in petrol version (automatic/manual) and diesel version (automatic/manual). The 1.6 litre petrol trendline variant would cost Rs 6.99 lakh; 1.6 litre highline petrol (manual) Rs 8.23 lakh; 1.6 litre highline petrol (automatic) Rs 9.21 lakh; 1.6 litre trendline TDI (manual) Rs 7.99 lakh; and 1.6 highline TDI (manual) Rs 9.23 lakh.
