Manasvi Mamgai is Femina Miss India World 2010

Nobody knew Manasvi Mamgai few days ago. Now, she is getting all the attention of the Indian media. The Mumbai girl won the crown of Pantaloon Femina Miss India 2010. She will represent India in Miss World 2010 that will be held in October.

A professional model, Manasvi currently lives in Mumbai. She was born in Delhi but was brought up in Chandigarh. A girl of Garhwali origin, Manasvi spent her childhood in Almora, Uttarkhand. She did her schooling from Hansraj Public School. Manasvi was a good student in her school days. Along with her studies, she also participated in theatre, dancing, skating and other extra-curricular activities. At the age of 14, Manasvi won many competitions in dancing, singing and skating. After finishing her school, she went to Delhi and signed up with Elite Model Management India. That same year she won the Elite Model Look Indian and walked on the ramp for the first time at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. She worked as a ramp model for several famous designers including Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra,Ranna Gill,Lecoanet Hemant. She also did an ad campaign for Fair and Lovely.

In 2008, she was crowned Miss Tourism International Held in Malaysia on December 31, 2008.

In Femina Miss India 2010, Manasvi won other sub contests including WGC Femina Miss Golden Heart, Femina Miss Catwalk, Gorgeous Femina Miss Beautiful Skin and Himalayan Femina Miss Natural Beauty. After winning the she was very happy. When asked how she was feeling she said:

I just want to sit back and cherish the moment. I have created history. Now I want to enjoy just that. And of course I want to hug my mom. She’s super happy and proud. I have only her and God to thank today.

From top 18 to 10 to 5 and finally to winning... how were the thoughts moving?

Don't know if anyone noticed, but every time they were announcing the winners, my name was the last to be announced. So it used to be a complete roller coaster ride for me. Every time I thot ab gai ab gai.. but God saved me!

While asking about her dream of winning the crown she said:

It all began the day I saw the blue crown on intact on Aishwarya Rai's head. So, you can say when other girls were dreaming to become Miss India, my eyes were still set on that blue crown of Miss World. And this victory is a part of the other big journey.

Miss India 2010: Manasvi Mamgai, Neha Hinge and Nicole Faria

Miss India 2010 grand finale took place on April 30, 2010, and Manasvi Mamgai won the Pantaloons Femina Miss India (PFMI) World 2010. She also won the titles of Miss Golden Heart and Miss Catwalk. Neha Hinge from Pune won Pantaloons Femina Miss India International 2010 and Nicole Faria from Bangalore won Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2010.

The grand finale took place at the National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA). Due to summer heat, the venue was shifted to air-conditioned indoors. The show was hosted by Mandira Bedi and Rohit Roy. Famous Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and Vipul Shah were present in the show and crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010 Bollywood Diva titles to two girls from six-short listed contestants on May 16, 2010. The winners will get an opportunity to work in their movies. This year, there were seven judges which includes successful personalities from different fields: Actor Kunal Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty, fashion designer Ritu Beri, Tennis player Sania Mirza, director and scriptwriter Anurag Basu, writer Chetan Bhagat, and Vijendra Singh.
