Gabriella Demetriades: All the things you need to know

Gabriella Demetriades is a profession model. In 2009, she became one of the finalists of Miss IPL Bollywood contest. The winner of Miss Bollywood IPL South Africa Competition will win Rs. 50,000 in cash, a business class airticket to India, attend the screen of a Bollywood movie and if fortunate would play a role in Bollywood and win other prizes. But later, it was clarified that the winner will get a guided tour of Bollywood. Gabriella Demetriades said that if she won the contest she would donate the money to charity.

A Johannesburg student, prior to modeling, Gabriella Demetriades worked as a promoter for a company. Currently, she is a popular South African model. Based in Cape Town, Gabriella Demetriades hails from Parsons Hill in Port Elizabeth. She has been working as a model since the age of 16. She entered the Weekend Post’s Faces of the Future competition in her home town. Together with her high school friend, Kimberley Wood, 23 year old Gabriella runs a communications and marketing company named Satin Soldier in Cape Town. In 2009, Gabriella Demetriades joined the competition for the Miss Bollywood SA title along with 48 South African women from different walks of life. She represented the Deccan Chargers after being picked from the crowd of spectators who were watching the cricket match between Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals. Unfortunately, Dune Kossatz was named Miss Bollywood IPL South Africa in an event at the Montecasino entertainment complex in Johannesburg.

Though Shashi Tharoor and Lalit Modi are now having a face off, only few months ago, the two were very closely. So much so that Lalit Modi, IPL Commissioner, asked Shashi Tharoor, Minister of External Affair’s office, to deny the visa of Gabriella Demetriades for Miss IPL Bollywood during IPL 2. Emails exchanged between Lalit Modi and Shashi Tharoor’s office revealed that Gabriella Demetriades’ visa was due to expire in February 2010 and Modi told Tharoor to deny her request to renew visa. Interesting the Ministry did not oblige and Gabriella Demetriades got her visa. When asked, Lalit Modi declined to comment on the matter. Gabirella Demetriades said that she came to India last October on a six-month visa. The e-mails reveal that Modi kept informing Tharoor’s office that Gabriella Demetriades is losing her passport and applying for a new one. One the contrary, Gabriella Demetriadesh kept informing Lalit Modi about the loss of her passport and visa application.
