It is not a matter of surprised that Gurunath Meiyappan is now the proud of his IPL team Chennai Super Kings. Chennai clinched the title of IPL 2010 following its 22-run victory over tournament favorite Mumbai Indians. Gurunath Meiyappan is the owner of Chennai Super Kings and after his team’s victory he was seen all smiling. His glowing face was enough to reveal the fact that he was in seventh heaven that time.
Chennai Super Kings reached the tournament final in the inaugural season of IPL, but failed to clinch the title as it lost to Rajasthan Royals by 3 wickets. Last year, Chennai reached the semi final where they were knocked out by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Even in this year, Chennai went through many ups and downs in the preliminary stage, but the yellow camp roared at the right time and won the title in style. Interestingly, Chennai’s performance in the preliminary stage of the previous two IPL seasons was better than this year’s performance in the preliminary stage. Moreover, Chennai is now the most consistent team of IPL as it played in the semi final of all three IPL seasons, a feat no other team has achieved. So, Gurunath Meiyappan should be a proud man now.
Following Chennai’s triumph, Gurunath Meiyappan did not hide his excitement. He said:
“In every aspect of acquiring the team, its performance, on field entertainment and the kind of ratings we managed to pull off. We have proved that CSK is a professionally run team. We are rocking!”
