England’s upcoming friendly match against Mexico on 24 May will give Coach Fabio Capello a big chance to see the current fitness level of the players following an exhausting premier league season. However, England will definitely miss the service of midfielder Gareth Barry as he is still recovering from his ankle injury.
Gareth Barry will see a specialist on 24 May to get to know the final condition of his ankle before Capello announces his final squad on 1 June. After Mexico, England has another friendly match against Japan in Austria on 30 May. England is currently busy with their world cup preparation in Austria. However, Barry did not travel with the team to Austria.
Barry has been one of the most consistent players for England since Capello took charge. Capello featured him in the starting line up of England’s 19 out of 22 internationals. The Manchester City midfielder is confident that he would get over the injury in time and be available for world cup.
England has no other major injury worry ahead of the Mexico match. Mathew Upson suffered a cut to his face during a practice session, but it is not very serious. Gerrard is yet to fully recover from the back problem, but the Liverpool captain has been practicing with the team regularly.
England manager is reportedly trying to play Steven Gerrard just behind striker Wayne Rooney. During practice, James Milner and Frank Lampard were seen playing in the centre of the midfield with Lennon and Walcott playing on the left and right wing respectively.
mexico is going to win
ReplyDeletegoals from javier chicharito hernandez & giovanni dos santos
I think the speed of Mexico's wingers will make the difference. I honestly think it will be a good match!! Mexico does have a lot of talent that will be seen in another world cup in the future. The only thing I see as lob-sided is the balls in the air from corners or set pieces since England has a few sky scrapers on the squad..A DEFINITE MUST SEE MATCH!!!!!!
