Australia vs USA Friendly 2010: Harry Kewell and Jozy Altidore Doubtful

Australia and USA are all set to take on each other in their last warm-up match before the World Cup Football 2010 kicks off on 11 June. Both sides will be looking to sort out their problems in the match before starting their World Cup mission. The match will take place at the Ruimsig Stadium in Johannesburg on 5 June.

However, both teams could miss two of their strikers for the match. Australian media is obsessed with the recovery news of key striker Harry Kewell who has been out of action for a long time since picking up a groin injury.

The good news for Australian fans is that Kewell has returned to training recently following an intense individual work to get over the injury. However, it is not yet sure if he would be available for the USA match on Sunday.

USA also has injury concern ahead of the Australia friendly as striker Jozy Altidore was forced to limp out of training on Thursday after injuring his ankle. However, the X-ray report did not reveal any crack or anything horrific, but the 20-year-old would have to go through a late fitness test on Friday before coach Bob Bradley takes the final decision on his availability for Sunday’s match.

Australia’s recent form is pretty much satisfactory with 3 back-to-back wins. United States, on the other hand, has not been impressive in the recent friendly games as they lost 3 out of their last 5 matches. USA, however, returned to winning ways in their recent 2-1 win over Turkey.

  1. Australias coach is hopeless. He is so dumb and is clueless about how to play real football. USA might win.

  2. If you knew anything about football you would not say that PV is hopeless. His style of play is going to get us a long way in the World Cup.

  4. Lets hope they Play Mile in every game or we are knackered.

Our other holding midfielders are a waste of space at the moment.

And can someone tell me how they can drag a croc like Bresciano along and leave young Tom OAr at home has got me stuffed.

When was the last time Bresciano got the ball passed or should i say over the first defender.

I am 50 and can deliver a ball better than most of the Aussie team. I am not joking.

And we should call Kennedy (Dicki Knee) because we seem to treat him like a head on a stick.

    Is this our only strategy.

I believe that PV thinks we are a poor team and can only use simple tactic s and hope for the best.

New Zealand will put up a better fight than us.
