FIFA Full Form: International Federation of Association Football

FIFA is the governing body of world football. In French, FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association, while in English it means: International Federation of Association Football.

World football is controlled and operated by FIFA. Today, FIFA controls all the regional and international football tournaments. FIFA oversees all the matters related to the game. There are 6 confederations for 6 continents working under the observation of FIFA.

For example, European Football Championship, which is also popularly known as Euro, is organized under the direct observation of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations). In the same manner, five other confederations also organize a continental football tournament.

Though FIFA is not directly involved in those tournaments, it keeps a close eye on those tournaments. However, World Cup Football is organized directly by FIFA.

Founded on 21 May 1904, FIFA now has 208 member associations. The number is even bigger than the number of total member countries of United Nations and International Olympic Committee.

World Cup Football 2010 is about to start and fans from around the world are now pretty much excited with this performance. There are many people from India are now searching with the key word ‘FIFA Full Form’.

Robert Guérin was the first president of FIFA. Sepp Blatter is the current president of the organization.
