Inter Milan Lining up €7m Bid for Elano

Brazilian midfielder Elano seems to have impressed newly appointed Inter Milan manager Rafael Benitez as he is planning to make a €7 million bid for the Galatasaray player. The 29-year-old has scored 2 goals in Brazil’s first two group matches in World Cup. Most importantly, he had considerable impact on Brazil’s performance.

So, it would not surprise anyone if the former Liverpool manager Benitez makes a move to land the 29-year-old at San Siro. On the other hand, it appears Elano would also like to join the European Champions as it would ensure his appearance in Champions League.

Elano joined Galatasaray last year from Manchester City and has had a satisfactory debut season with the Turkish giants. A regular member of Brazil national side, Elano has 44 international caps to his credit.

Signing Elano would give Inter Milan an extra advantage. As the player already holds an Italian passport, his addition to the Inter squad would not be counted in non-EU player’s quota. However, Inter Milan would have to come to terms with Elano’s €4.2 million a year salary.

Though Inter Milan has revealed their interest in Elano, neither Galatasaray nor the player has said anything about it yet.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan is still focused on their bid to sign Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.
